New 80's List

It's the Movie's of the 80's and the One Song from the Soundtrack that when you hear it you KNOW what movie it comes from. See if you remember the songs............

Tribute to Mr. Rogers

I watched this man so many times as a child and I loved him. He was a legend and a great man to children everywhere. He never saw race, disabilities, wealth vs. poor, educational issues, he just saw children that needed to be taught and he did just that.

If someone says Meow, Meow Kitty and you get it, if you remember the bell that rang on the the Trolley that takes you to the Land of Make Believe, or if you've ever changed your shoes or taken off your sweater to be like Mr. Roger's you know what it was like to watch his show. It was always "a beautiful day" in his neighborhood and that was an awesome place to be.

The great thing is that he made it through his career flawlessly and there was never a negative item published about this man. In today's world, that is almost next to impossible.

Question of the day to Ponder

Is it part of a human’s DNA make up as a child to at some point rebel? Think about it; every child at the teenage age, rebels, comes of age or, takes the “rite of passage”. Does it naturally happen because it’s in their chemical make up or it is just the way society drives them to be?

If a child lived alone, in the forest, would he or she start to just become angry and bitter toward the animals in the forest at the age of 13? Would they begin to lash out at the deer, cursing and telling them they were stupid and had no right to share the water hole at dusk with them? Would they stay up late for no reason and run around after midnight eating wild berries until they were too sick to sleep. ha ha. My guess is yes, even an isolated child would rebel against itself!

Is it parental contact that makes our children angry and rebellious? Is it the basic rules of can’t and shouldn’t that make them want to do and will? We tell a 13 year old they can’t and they find a way to sneak and do. You tell a 16 year old they shouldn’t and they just flat out tell you they should because you are old and stupid, and “you haven’t lived”. Every teenage adolescent goes through the same process so my question is, why, is this society driven or DNA driven.

Is the rebelliousness what makes a child become an adult? Do you HAVE to live through the ridiculous part and make those mistakes to become an good adult and realize what life has to offer? Some never make it so does that mean they just keep rebelling and why?

Questions to ponder…………….thoughts anyone????

Midnight Blue

I never knew this video existed and it's dedicated to one special person in my life. Only they would know who they are, but that doesn't even matter at this point. This by far is the most significant 80's song of my life. Might not mean much to anyone else, but to me, it's THE ONE.

Special Word of the Day

This is the EmpressSassy Special Word of the Day........Say it with me people!

Double Standard
–noun 1. any code or set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another, esp. an unwritten code of sexual behavior permitting men more freedom than women. Compare single standard (def. 1).

Photo of the Day

Just when you think things are ran by a powerful OZ, you pull the curtain back and you realize it's just an idiot with a lot of smoke and whistles. Remember to stick to your guns and be who you are! Life is short, live it to the fullest!

Tribute to Ernie on Sesame Street

80's Mania

It's time to get into it! We're going to take a look back..........that's right the 80's. We'll start with the music and then work out way to TV and then the hunks! Let's get started with the top 10 songs and when they come on you just can't stand still. I gotta tell ya - Mr. Jackson (pre freak) is ranking in there quite a few times. He was an icon in the 80's for me. If you're feeling it, give me a "Hell yeah".

Oh yeah, check it out people and tell me what you think!

Death by Pop Tart

Looks like an innocent pop tart doesn't it? Uh huh I thought so too, but let me tell ya, they are little fruity, juice squirting, flesh scalding prison torturing mechanisms and now I know.

I don't eat them OK, I bought them for Noah and put the little fruit scalder in the microwave thinking maybe 15 seconds. Well let me tell you it only apparently takes about 6 seconds.

I reached to take it out and the cherry juice squirted out on the side of the tart and scalded my flesh leaving me with a wound that has taught me that french toast is the way to go from now on.

Just wanted to give other mothers a head's up. Pop Tarts can be dangerous when misused!

Ode to........

Centerfold!

Movie Review

This was a really good movie. You can't go wrong with Anthony Hopkins and my guy, Ryan Gosling from one of my favorite movies, The Notebook, was awesome. He's cute, and he's and up and coming actor that I think is going to do great things. It's a murder mystery and although it's a little predictable at the end, it's enough to hold you attention. On the 5 Star level I'd give it 4 Stars!

Happy Monday

Why does an egg stand during equinox?

During March 21 and september 22, i.e, vernal equinox and autumnal equinox, we can perfectly balance an egg. Can anyone tell me why?

You can perfectly balance an egg any day of the year. Here is the history behind the significance of the ritual on the equinoxes:

The Chinese are thought to have originated the practice of standing eggs on end during the equinox. Just as the equinox symbolically restores balance to the world by signalling its rebirth after a season of darkness, the equinox literally balances the day by dividing it into equal portions of darkness and light. If the symbol of fertility — eggs — could be balanced on end during a day equally divided between day and night, this was a sign that all nature was in harmony. That the balancing of eggs could be achieved on any day of the year was of no importance; what everyone wanted and needed was a familiar, reassuring ritual to demonstrate that all was right with the world.

Giraffe Quicksand

Saturday Recipe

It's Saturday and I found an easy recipe on the back of the Stove Top Box and it was actually good. It took all of 15 minutes to prepare and 35 minutes to cook. Thought I'd share:

1 Box Stove Top Stuffing Mix (chicken flavor)
3 chicken breast cut up in small pieces
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 cup hot water
1 package frozen peas and carrots

Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Spread half of the stuffing mix in a 9X13 pan
Take the other half and pour in a bowl with the 1 cup hot water
Take your cut up chicken and lay it on the dry stuffing in you baking dish
Once the other mixture is soft add your 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and frozen veggies
Spread the mixture of the chicken and bake for about 35 minutes.

I served it with biscuits and it was very good.
